~Specialising in lectures for the discerning art lover~

I have been a lecturer for the Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) as well as numerous other arts organisations for over thirty years and have a well established reputation. I have an academic background in Byzantine and Early Russian Art and Architecture (MA 1976) and have followed a varied career, as an art journalist, a translator of 19th century Russian literature for Penguin Books and Oxford University Press, as a lecturer in art history and since 1998 running tours for my company St James's Art Tours. It was with sadness that I decided to cease operating  St James's Art Tours in 2022. The whole period when I led and ran tours was one of continual excitement, discovering new places, re-visiting previous ones, meeting different peoples and cultures, always something new to discover. These years are full of rich memories. I was fortunate to be doing something I enjoyed and which provided so much stimulation and the visits certainly enhanced my lectures.
Whilst continuing to lecture to Arts Society members in person I also offer on-line talks, via zoom, something that I began during the pandemic in 2020 and which I continued in 2021 and 2022. I discovered that I very much enjoy the new medium and can see many advantages in it. I offer one off lectures, and short courses on a weekly basis during the winter months and am particularly keen on what I call armchair travel, when I can revisit some of the places I know so well. All talks are recorded and available after the talks.
The recorded talks are also available to listen to at any stage and can be purchased from me.
